Interventional Radiology Treatment Proven Safe For Uterine Fibroids

Recent reports of The New England Journal Of Medicine suggests that Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE)  is an appropriate and safe non surgical treatment for women to kill tumors and painful uterine fibroids.

Scott C. Goodwin, M.D., FSIR, an interventional radiologist who co-authored the journal, says that UFE is safe, effective and also minimally invasive option for the treatment of uterine fibroids.

This is significantly important news for over 300,000 women who have hysterectomies performed every year in U.S. in order to treat symptomatic uterine fibroids. Women can confidently go for UFE and this could significantly decrease hysterectomy rate.UFE

“A woman seeking treatment for her fibroids should be aware of all of her treatment options.

UFE may be one of those options, and the best way to determine this is for the patient and her gynecologist or primary care provider to consult with an interventional radiologist,” added Goodwin.
