Cervicitis is a gynecological disorder with an inflammation at the cervix, the lower part of uterus.

This is the most common disease in women and can occur at some or the other stage of life.

  • Maintaining sexual contacts in early stages can also cause cervicitis.
  • Having multiple sexual contacts can also cause cervicitis.
  • Using sanitary pads or tampons with fragrance can also lead to cervicitis.

How cervicitis can cause harm to you?

If cervicitis is not detected in early stages it can lead to pelvic inflammatory diseases due to which the fallopian tubes, the uterine lining and uterus may get damaged. Woman with pelvic inflammatory disease will not find any symptoms of cervicitis and may cause trouble during pregnancy.

Usually cervicitis does not show any signs and symptoms immediately. It can be diagnosed with certain tests conducted like routine Pap test.

Avoid cervicitis with following tips:

  • Despite of experiencing any symptoms, consult the doctor for complete physical exam annually.
  • Avoid sprays and chemical irritants in tampons.
  • Avoid multiple sexual contacts.
  • Make use of condoms as regular part of sex.
  • Identify vaginal infections in early stages and take proper treatment.
  • When your sex partner finds symptoms of burning urination or any other infections, then immediately make yourself diagnosed.
