Experiencing infertility issues can be distressing for any couple.

In the United States, about 6.1 million people are affected with infertility.

It is the inability of a couple to conceive a pregnancy, after at least 1 year of unprotected sexual intercourse.

Moreover, if you are a woman and experiencing repeated miscarriages then this condition is also refers to infertility.

The causes for infertility vary depending upon your health condition.

Mostly the female infertility issues are due to premature ovarian failure (PCOS) and advanced age.

However, the inability of conceiving pregnancy can be due to fertility problem in your partner.Fertility with In Vitro Fertilization

Rarely, the usage of drugs, both prescribed and recreational, may become the cause for your fertility woes. On the other hand, for some, there will be no cause behind these fertility problems.

Treatment for infertility will be done through medication or surgery and approximately 85-90% of cases are treated effectively.

Improvements in fertility treatment have made it possible for the introduction of a new and advanced technology called in vitro fertilization (IVF). IVF is now recognized worldwide as a non-surgical and safest infertility treatment.

In vitro fertilization is one of the assisted reproductive techniques (a non-surgical fertility treatment) where an infertile couple can be able to attain pregnancy carefully and successfully.

Basically, an IVF involves fertilizing an ovum in a laboratory dish and then transferring the embryo to a woman’s uterus. The word ‘test tube baby’ is generally used to refer to the children born with this technique.

IVF is often suggested for you with any of the infertility causes such as tubal factor infertility, endometriosis, blocked or damaged fallopian tubes, cervical factor infertility and ovulation disorders.

In your IVF treatment, the ovum from your ovary are removed surgically under ultrasound guidance and placed in a laboratory dish (petri dish), where they are unified with the sperm of your sexual partner.

The ovum in the dish will be examined, after about 1-2 days, to observe whether they have become fertilized by the sperm and separating into cells. The fertilized eggs are called embryos, which are then embedded into your uterus.

Actually, the IVF treatment for infertility has several stages: ovulation induction, egg harvesting, insemination and fertilization, and embryo transfer. In some rare cases, you can also select to undergo preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) to check for chromosomal abnormalities.

On the other hand, there are certain factors to be considered regarding IVF, an infertility treatment. The factors include: age, cost, birth rate, safety, and surgery involvement.

If you are below an age of 35 and unable to conceive pregnancy, then you can try IVF for your infertility problem. The cost of IVF is moderate. With IVF, you can give birth to a healthy baby and it is estimated that about 63 percent are single babies, 32 percent are twins and 5% are triplets or more.

The in vitro fertilization technique for infertility issue is safe. With IVF, there is less possibility of undergoing surgery. It is also estimated that IVF technique has lessen the rate of surgeries by half.
