Many of us have a positive phobia when it comes to using public restrooms and when one goes into sheer number of bugs and germs present in these public places those are very considerable indeed.

Some people are terrified that they will catch something particularly nasty from the toilet seat such as sexually transmitted disease. The fact though is that that it is quite difficult to catch something nasty from the toilet seat.

For one, bugs don’t survive very long periods of time and if they do, it would be quite difficult for them to actually enter one’s urethral or genital tract which is necessary in order for the infection to actually occur.hand wash

If one has a cut or a wound at the area that actually touches the seat then that chance of being infected increases.

However, for the most part, those who have a healthy immune system and those that take basic precautions of hand washing and good hygiene, they need not be afraid that they will catch something nasty at the public toilet.

It is true that there may be a lot lurking there, including streptococcus, staphylococcus, E. coli and shigella bacteria, hepatitis A virus, the common cold virus, and various sexually transmitted organisms, but it is highly unlikely that you will actually catch anything nasty!
