Although the summer is just perfect for sunbathing, sometimes this activity comes with a price. A lot of women get sunburned during the summer. It is true that this is more than uncomfortable, but luckily there are a lot of home remedies you can try that truly work.

SunburnsIn order to have some relief from the pain and inflammation, soak the affected skin area in cold water. Remember not to use ice water. Also you could apply cold compresses for 15 minutes. This works by reducing the swelling and it also takes the heat of the skin.

If your body gets burned all over, you should have a cool bath. It is even better if you add some oatmeal to the water. There are colloidal oatmeal products that you could get, but it is alright if you grind up a cup of oatmeal with a food processor and simply add it to the bathwater.

Green tea

Prepare some green tea and allow it to cool. Then soak a compress in it and apply it to the affected areas. The good thing about the tea is that it contains ingredients that protect the skin against the ultraviolet radiations. In the same time these ingredients reduce the inflammation of the skin.

In order to make the discomfort disappear you could make a mint tea or mix a couple of drops of mint oil with lukewarm water and bathe the affected area in it.

You wouldn’t even imagine that vegetables can help with sunburn as well. If you got seriously burned in some places, apply a slice of cucumber or potato on the affected area. These help to cool the burn and they reduce the swelling also.

Most probably you know that vinegar comes with acetic acid that can also be found in aspirin. This can help with the itching, pain and inflammation associated with sunburn. Soak paper towels in white vinegar and apply them on the affected areas. Leave the towels on until they dry.

Vinegary bath

If the burned skin patches feel itchy, you should have a cool bath. Before you get in it would be a good idea to add a couple of cups of vinegar to the water.

Make a thick paste of baking soda and vinegar and apply it on the affected area. Apply the paste at night and leave it on.
