According to a survey, more than a third of women have experienced fertility problems.

The survey also revealed that 7 out of 10 childless women over the age of thirty worry about their fertility.

The survey by Red magazine found that while delaying motherhood for a variety of reasons, women have it in “the back of their minds” they can try IVF if they fail to conceive naturally.

This is despite half of women who try IVF needing three or more cycles of treatment, suggesting more difficulties than they anticipated. The average cost of fertility treatment was £6,638 per woman.

In one in six cases, would-be grand parents are helping to pay the bills, but many women said that would be willing to pay double if a baby could be guaranteed.
