Sexual Transmitted Diseases (STDs) like AIDS, gonorrhoea, herpes etc. are names that we all have heard about. However, there are many that are not as common and Blue Waffle Infection/Disease is one of them. This is new addition to the list if STDs and can be diagnosed by seeing the colour of vaginal discharge in women which apparently is blue in colour.

It also causes a very unpleasant and strong odour that can be easily noticed by others. The name of the infection is derived from the word “waffle” which is a common slang that is used for vagina. Thus blue waffle infection is a disease that is caused due to the sexual activity or the exposure of the vagina to unsanitary objects.

Causes of Blue Waffle Infection

This infection is yet to be registered and the doctor would not tell you that you have “blue waffle’ infection. However, that does not mean that this infection does not exist. It affects both men and women though it is more common in women.

A lot of research is still required in this field and some of the probable causes include:

  • Weak immune system
  • Development of the disease can be due to improper diet and nutrition
  • Wearing tight undergarment can also trigger this infection
  • If you are into using female hygiene nebulizers, make sure that you do it with care
  • Transmission from the infected partner
  • Sex can cause this disease even when your sex partner does not have this infection as it is caused by irritation and abrasions and lack of lubrication inside your vagina and also due to the use of tampons

Symptoms of Blue Waffle Infection

As already mentioned, this infection can affect both men and women though it mostly affects women as this bacterium thrives well in warm and moist places (vagina). The symptoms can be visible on the mouths of few males and females though they are more common in the vagina.

  • It starts with an excretion from your vagina and this is the first symptom of this disease. Early diagnosis and treatment prevents you from acquiring the full fledged infection.
  • Your entire vaginal walls would feel more moist than usual and the discharge would carry an unpleasant and strong odour right from the beginning. This would be accompanied with itching and the odour could be sensed from quite a distance.
  • The outer lips of your vagina would first turn blue slowly and then turn into purple. If this happens, it means the bacterium has started affecting you in full force and you need to get proper treatment.

There are many women who do not consider this to be a disease and just think it as a consequence of improper hygiene.

Treatment of Blue Waffle Infection

This disease can both be prevented and cured. So it is important that you prevent it on the first hand by making sure that your reproductive organs are washed and kept clean. Doctors would give you antibiotics to kill the germ and cure the infection.
