Are You With Thyroid Problem? Know How To Treat Your Problem!

Do you ever find thyroid problem, a problem caused to thyroid gland.

So when you find any problem to the thyroid, you just fix it through proper thyroid treatment.

Actually, thyroid is a small winged gland located in the lower part of your neck, just below your thyroid cartilage.

The function of this gland is to produce hormones and release them into the bloodstream to regulate your body’s metabolism.

The major hormones the thyroid gland produces are triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4), which transmit energy to the cells of your body.

In general, for a healthy body, the thyroid gland produces the right amounts of T3 and T4 hormones.

Mostly, you can get thyroid problems from any of the following:

Hyperthyroidism:

This is caused due to too much thyroid hormone in your body. For this type of thyroid problem, currently you have radioactive iodine, anti-thyroid drugs, and surgery methods for treating a hyperthyroid patient like you.

Often, there come situations where all three methods are appropriate for your condition. However, surgery is the least common preferable treatment option for hyperthyroidism.

Hypothyroidism:

This is a common thyroid problem. You can get hypothyroidism with too little thyroid hormones. Actually, often, this thyroid problem will present in your body for a number of years before you recognize and treat it. Treatment for all types of hypothyroidism is usually straightforward.

Simply take Levothyroxine (a thyroid hormone pill) once a day. However, try to re-evaluate the dosage monthly until your thyroid hormone level is established properly.

Thyroid Goiter:

It is a staged enlargement of the thyroid gland. Goiter treatment depends on the size of the enlargement.

Treatment is not necessary if it is small and not growing. However, you need treatment if the size reduces the functioning of the parts of your neck, if you have difficulty in swallowing, shortness of breath, hoarseness in your voice.

The best treatment for a goiter is a subtotal thyroidectomy, an operation where most of the thyroid gland is removed.

Solitary Thyroid Nodules:

It is a swelling in the thyroid gland that arises within an otherwise normal thyroid gland. Mostly, these unusual growths of thyroid tissue will be at the edge of the thyroid gland and you may feel as a lump in your throat.

The treatment for thyroid nodules requires either a needle biopsy or surgical excision. Currently, the treatment includes risks of radiation exposure and the role of needle biopsy for thyroid nodule evaluation.

Thyroid Cancer:

This thyroid problem is a malignancy of the thyroid gland.  Thyroid treatment will depend upon the type of tumor. Surgery is common treatment option, where your thyroid gland will be removed entirely.

Often, radiation therapy with radioactive iodine or with beam radiation is used, with or without surgery, for this thyroid problem.

Thyroiditis:

This thyroid problem is the inflammation to the thyroid gland. The treatment depends upon type of thyroiditis. For autoimmune thyroiditis, treatment is thyroid hormone replacement.

For De Quervain’s Thyroiditis, bed rest and aspirin to reduce inflammation and for silent thyroiditis, bed rest with beta-blockers to control palpitations are essential.
