I have a lot of friends of both genders. In fact, it can be said that a group of us have been thick through high school, college and all of our adult life. Of course, when something goes wrong with one of them, the friends are the quickest to know.

One of our friends was going through the menopause, and it was not a good time for any of us. Soon, we saw that she was showing signs of suffering from depression.

In a while, a psychiatrist attested that she was indeed going through a phase of depression.

She was always the most sensitive amongst all of us, and we decided that we would do our best to help her out. Of course, that the psychiatrist was an eye opener to all of us.

Taking into consideration the physical and psychological differences between men and women, it would only be fair to say that there is a vast difference between the healths of the two genders and there are different ways to solve their health aspects.

Menopause is a women’s health problem that is experienced by every woman sometime or the other in their lives. It is the process of complete depletion of reproductive activity in a woman.

Menopause is a transitional process and is first noticed in women in their forties. During this period, the production of estrogen and progesterone, the two natural sex hormones decreases.  Out of these two hormones, estrogen is the hormone that controls many of the psychological aspects of a woman.

Due to the decreased production of estrogen and several other psychological factors, women may undergo depression during their menopausal years.

Complete stopping of the reproductive aspects of a woman also means depletion of the sexual drive in a woman.

Most women find it difficult to handle the psychological aspects of their menopausal years and therefore go into depression.

This depression can be mild or severe, depending on person to person. The severe depression can have a damning effect on the women in future. In such a case, you should remember that the menopause depression can be cured with basic psychology.

Depression occurs in a person due to many reasons. Depression itself means a continuous sadness that affects the psychology of the person. This sadness may be caused due to many reasons, right from loss in personal life or professional life. A trained professional would be able to take care of the depression that a woman may undergo during menopause.

A Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or an Interpersonal Therapy would be very helpful in the case of depression during menopause. The Cognitive Behavioral Therapy takes care of the negative thoughts and aspects that a woman might undergo during menopause.

This therapy also allows a woman to create a positive atmosphere around her, so that she can have a positive outlook, even after going through a difficult time in her life.

An Interpersonal Therapy Session helps the women to enhance their communication skills, so that they can spend their day to day lives with the minimum amount of stress. If a woman can communicate with her family and friends better, she will be able to spend more productive days and therefore decrease the amount of stress[stress reduction techniques] that might face on a day to day basis.

Simply put, basic psychology gives the woman a chance to have a positive outlook towards her life, and equip them to face their day to day lives in a better manner. It sure helped our friend so it is worth recommending.
