Types of Cysts

There are different types of ovarian cysts, which is something that a doctor will look into to determine how the cyst has formed and whether it is dangerous. The most common is a follicular cyst. This type of cyst on ovary is a simple one that forms when the ovulation fails to occur and usually forms around the time of ovulation. This cyst may rupture and usually happens in the middle of the menstrual cycle. This often leads to a sharp pain but is nothing dangerous.

The next type is a corpus luteum cyst and often occurs once the egg is released. These cysts on ovaries are common within the follicle that the egg is release from and often fills with some fluid or blood if a pregnancy does not happen. There are usually no symptoms from these cysts and they will not usually bring problems.

The hemorrhagic cyst is when there is some bleeding from a cyst. This commonly brings some type of abdominal pain and is usually on one side of the body. This is something that needs some treatment to help to remove.

The Dermoid cyst is a benign tumor. This is not dangerous and is often found in younger women. Many of these will grow up to being 6 inches diameter and often have other bodily growths, including fat and possibly hair and bone. A CT scan is the best way to help with determining if this cyst on ovary is occurring. There is a problem with these cysts as they can affect the supply of blood and cause severe pain.

Endometrioid cysts are a common part of condition known as endometriosis, and occurs when the endometrial tissue grows on the ovaries – this is the uterus’ lining. This is common during the years of reproduction and is often linked to some severe pain at times of menstruation.

These cysts cause some damage and lead to many women struggling to conceive and often lead to scarring tissue on other parts of the uterus and ovaries.

Another types if the polycystic-appearing ovary, which is usually twice the size of normal cysts. This type of cyst is commonly found outside of the ovary and is often noted in women who are healthy and also those who have hormonal problems. The ultrasound will be able to show this condition.

This is often linked to infertility problems and also problems with reoccurring miscarriages. There are also other complications linked during pregnancy. There is also a higher risk of women getting endometrial cancer if these cysts have been noted.

There are many different types of cysts on ovaries. Some of them are very common but have no dangers, while others are conditions that will need to be looked into immediately. There is treatment available for the problem, including medication, but it may lead to a woman requiring surgery to be able to completely remove the cyst – this is especially the case when it comes to a tumor cyst and something life-threatening.
