Women Report More Sleep Disruption Than Men, Study

University of Cincinnati researchers uncover the social factors responsible for loss of sleep in multitasking women and why women report more sleep disruptions than men.

According to the study, even with developing progress towards gender equality at both workplace and home, women continue to carry the maximum responsibilities at home and also at work, which makes them to suffer from more sleep problems than men.

The UC researchers conducted a phone survey of 583 union workers represented by a Midwestern chapter of the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW). The phone survey took place between January and April of 2007. Sixty-two percent of the respondents were women.
